Lumus (meaning "shine the light") helps financial services firms derive ongoing value from the refinement of their customer proposition and their investments in information technology. Established in August 2009, Lumus has particular domain expertise in payments, stockbroking, commercial banking and financial planning.
Paul was the founding Managing Director of CommSec (Australia's leading online retail stockbroker), which he set up and led from 1994 to 2002, and later Chairman until 2009. In 2002, Paul established Premium Banking & Investment Services, a division providing advice and personal banking to the Commonwealth Bank’s more affluent clients. In 2005, Paul was appointed as Executive General Manager, Payments & Business Technology.
In this role, Paul led the Group's payment businesses, was the Chief Information Officer for the Business and Institutional banks and was responsible for the delivery of services from the operational teams. In payments, Commonwealth Bank is the market leader, with a share in merchant acquiring in excess of 30%, and around 25% in domestic low and high value payments.
Paul was awarded ‘Australian Stockbroker of the Year’ in 2005 and admitted to the ‘hall of fame’. He is Director of Halidon Asset Management Limited, National E-Conveyancing Development Limited, Switzer Financial Group and Tyro Payments Limited.
